The weather here in Detroit has been totally crazy lately. We’ve been getting unseasonable cold blasts complete with snow and slush, and I’ve been going mental seeing snaps of all the beautiful blossoms on the other side of the pond.
But I think our luck may have just begun to turn around! The forecast for this week is full of sun, and I’m excited to finally be able to pack away the winter jacket and break out my Spring wardrobe.
And besides, the lack of flowers blooming around just town gives me an even better excuse to pick up some fresh cuts at Eastern Market on the weekend!
My go-to florist there is Chris Engels. It’s a family business that’s been around since 1883, and my great-grandmother used to go to their same exact same shop off Woodmere to pick up bouquets when she was young.
You can choose from a number of seasonal arrangements as well as the custom bouquets. I personally am a sucker for hydrangeas, and think that they look lovely without anything to distract, so I just picked up a couple of stems to brighten up my bedroom.
As for my new Spring wardrobe, I’m probably most excited about this shirt. It’s made of soft cotton that’s just thick enough to maintain a crisp collar and structured bell sleeves.
I love the details with the double cuff, and it’s the absolute perfect shade of baby blue.
I’m also obsessed with these jeans. I’m pretty tall, so finding a pair of jeans that actually sits on my waist is quite the challenge -these miraculously do the trick. I also find the tapered slim-straight leg to be super flattering. I know flared and raw hems are all the rage, but this is a much easier cut to wear without much thought!
And these shoes! They’re made of buttery soft leather with a pointed toe for that leggy illusion with all the comfort of a flat. I’ve got these in three different colours and have had all of them resoled – so you could say I’m a fan!
Do you have any great finds? I’m dying to stock up my Spring wardrobe more, so let me know in the comments below!
