Los Angeles: Hiking the Hollywood Hills

The morning was gorgeous. Bright shining sun, blue skies, and crisp air without even a hint of smog. After a leisurely breakfast on the roof, Kamilla and I decided to make the most of it with a hike through the Hollywood Hills.

We had an Uber take us to the other end of Griffith Park so we wouldn’t have to double back on ourselves. He dropped us off at Wonder View Trail Head, which you’ll find right at the end of Wonder View Drive.

It was about half a mile of steep, tough hiking and we had to take more breaks than I care to admit!

But don’t get discouraged – this is actually the hardest part of the entire hike!

When you finally get to the top, head left towards Wonder Tree for a well deserved break under the shade.

Once you’re re-gathered your strength, head onwards towards the Hollywood Sign!

It’s a small, rugged trail surrounded by wildlife and spectacular views below.

Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for winged visitors hiding in the brush!

And take every opportunity to survey your kingdom below!

Ultraboost Shoes | Tank (similar) | Sports Bra | Best Shorts Ever

On a side note – these shorts are truly the best I’ve ever owned! Besides being super breathable and flattering, I’ve had this specific pair for five years and they still look brand new.

I’m also swapped all of my athletic shoes over to Adidas recently. They’re the only company that doesn’t just ‘shrink it and pink it’, and has instead designed shoes specifically for women’s feet. They’re stylish, durable, and comfortable. And if you sign up for the mailing list, you get 15% off your purchase! What’s not to love?

Past the Hollywood sign, you’ll go down another trail with amazing views of the mountains beyond. Kamilla told me that they’re usually pretty hidden by desert dust and smog, but we got really lucky with a crystal clear day!

An hour or so later, we turned a corner and saw our final destination – Griffith Observatory.

We hiked down and scarfed our faces with cafeteria food. Like most museums, it’s overpriced for what it is, but you get this view…

It was a beautiful late spring night, and the crowds certainly reflected it. We made our way through nonetheless, marveling at all it had to offer.

We made our way back out to catch more of the hazy sunset before heading on the trail down.

Until we landed back in the shady canopy of Los Feliz, ready to collapse under the covers with a warm cup of tea.

I’ll certainly miss calling this little neighbourhood home!
